The questions below are the kind people genuinely ask before ordering or while Sébastien is drawing live. The idea is simple: useful answers, in normal language, with a little personality.
YouCan the caricature be kind and flattering? I don’t want to upset the person I’m giving it to.
ToutouAbsolutely. Sébastien’s caricatures are meant to make people smile, not feel attacked. The face is recognisable, the exaggeration stays playful, and the aim is to create a gift people enjoy.
YouHow long does a caricature take to draw?
ToutouSometimes a face clicks in 30 seconds; sometimes it takes much longer. For live caricatures, Sébastien usually needs around 5 to 10 minutes per drawing.
Questions Sébastien hears all the time
When did you start drawing?“Hard to say — I drew before I could walk.” Seeing Cabu on French television made him decide he wanted to become a cartoonist.
Did you go to art school?No. He studied History and Sociology, started working at 19 and learned by drawing constantly.
How many people have you drawn?He estimates somewhere between 15,000 and 20,000 people.
Do you ever get bored of caricatures?No. That is probably the secret: every face is a little puzzle that ends with a laugh, or a surprise.
